South Korea's chief nuclear envoy Wi Sung-lac arrived in China Thursday for talks with his Chinese counterpart Wu Dawei.

The Foreign Ministry in Seoul says that during his two-day stay in Beijing, Wi will discuss the North Korean nuclear issue, including its uranium enrichment program.

The ministry says the South Korean official may also meet other Chinese officials.

Seoul has insisted that the uranium program, which China and the U.S. discussed during a bilateral summit in January, must be referred to the U.N. Security Council. However, Beijing has opposed such a move.
