Gov't Selects 8 Spots as Top Tourist Attractions

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has selected eight spots as the nation’s top tourist attractions.

The eight destinations include Andong Hahoe Folk Village, Jeju’s Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, Suncheon Bay in South Jeolla Province, Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon and historic sites in Gyeongju’s Namsan and Wolseong districts. The Upo Wetland in Changnyeong, Jeonju’s Hanok Village and Seoul’s cultural streets in Bukchon, Samcheong-dong and Insa-dong were also selected.

The ministry named Andong Hahoe Folk Village, Hwaseong Fortress and the Gyeongju historic sites as “historical and cultural tourist destinations.”

Suncheon Bay, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak and Upo Wetland were named "ecological tourist spots," while the Seoul's cultural streets and Jeonju’s Hanok Village were named "cultural tourist attractions."
