According to the Ministry of Local Government and Home Affairs the reconstruction costs in the government-declared special disaster areas due to the damage inflicted by Typhoon Rusa earlier the month are estimated at a total of $6 billion USdollars. The damage due to the storms and floods caused used by the typhoon is estimated at 5.5 trillion won. The government will pay 70 percent of the reconstruction costs, or 5.5 trillion won, from its treasury and local governments will pay the remaining 30 percent, or 2.2 trillion won.
