Korea ranks 28th in foreign tourist numbers in 2000

The Korea National Tourism Organization (KNTO) said Monday quoting data from the World Tourism Organization (WTO)Korea attracted 5.32 million foreign tourists in 2000, ranking it 28th in the world. Korea took the 33rd place in foreign visitors in 1998, moved up three steps to 30th in 1999 and two more in 2000 to 28th 28th. Last year, however, there was no data release as some countries including Russia didn't offer their numbers. In 2000, by the number of foreign tourists, France ranked the top with a number of 75.60 million, followed by the United States with 58.91 million and Spain with 47.90 million.
