Exodus of 30 million Seoulites began Friday for Chusok, or harvest festival holidays

An estimated 30 million South Koreans started to get moving Friday, one day before the Chusok holiday, the Korean version of thanksgiving day or harvest festival. Most of nation's transportation junctures, including airports, express bus terminal, train stations and ports were crowded with massive flocks of people who want to go to visit their hometowns and to see their loved ones. The bustling mood for this year's Chusok seems especially prominent as the three holidays are relatively short compared to the Chusok holidays in the past and because of the still damaged roads by the recent typhoon Rusa. The transportation authorities have augmented special buses and trains as the time from Seoul to each different destinations takes more than double the usual time. Many people flocks together to major public cemeteries to pay homage to their ancestral tombs and most palaces, folk villages, cinema houses seem busy to receive visitors.
