Radio Free Asia (RFA) is reporting that North Korea is strengthening its capability for electronic and special warfare.

The U.S. broadcaster cited a report by the British International Institute for Strategic Studies which said that North Korea’s traditional combat capability has weakened due to the financial difficulties that have plagued the North since the 1990s.

However, the report said that the North has increased its ability for electronic and information warfare and special warfare by reorganizing its military to focus on asymmetric combat capability.

In particular, the medium said that North Korea has been steadily building up its electronic warfare capabilities by keeping its equipment cutting-edge. The equipment referred to includes those for collecting electronic information and for jamming electronic signals.
