North Korea says that it does not oppose the uranium enrichment issue being discussed at the six-party nuclear talks.
According to the North's Korean Central News Agency, an official from the Foreign Ministry in Pyongyang said that North Korea is willing to attend the six-way talks with no preconditions and that it does not oppose having the uranium enrichment issue addressed during the multilateral dialogue.
The official made the comments following a visit to Pyongyang by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Borodavkin, who called on the North to pursue a resumption of the six-party talks.
The North Korean spokesman cited the Russian official as urging the North to halt nuclear tests and ballistic missile launches and to allow access to the Yongbyon enrichment facility by officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The spokesman said that Borodavkin also stressed the prospects of economic cooperation between the two Koreas and Moscow in building an inter-Korean rail, gas pipes and power transmission lines.
The spokesman said North Korea supports such cooperation and that if three-way, working-level talks are proposed to discuss the proposals, Pyongyang would be willing to mull participating in such discussions.
