Sakhalin Koreans residing in mainland Russia to visit

The Korean National Red Cross, or KNRC, said Tuesday that a group of 165 ethnic Koreans who have moved from Sakhalin island to mainland Russia will visit their motherland from Oct. 9-Nov. 6th. The KNRC said a total of 13,970 Sakhalin Koreans have visited South Korea from the Russian island but this is the first organized visit by those residing on the Russian mainland. A group of 50 ethnic Koreans from Vladivostok and Khabarovsk will visit Seoul from Oct. 9-16, 35 from Kazakhstan will visit from Oct. 22-29 and 80 from Moscow will tour from Oct. 31-Nov. 6. The delegation is scheduled to tour historical sites, major industrial facilities, and Sangam World Cup Stadium.
