KCC Head Begins Second Term

Korea Communications Commission (KCC) Chairman Choi See-joong has begun his second three-year term, which will last until 2014.

Along with him, five standing members of the commission were inaugurated during a ceremony on Monday morning.

Choi said in his second inaugural speech that his agency will work to help South Korea become a global powerhouse in the smart gadget sectors as well as in the IT industry.

He also said that his commission will put priority on spreading the benefits of broadcasting, communications and IT technologies to the underprivileged while continuing efforts to lower communication fees.

Regarding broadcasting policies, the KCC will ease regulations on advertisements and program scheduling, and seek to have broadcasters serve more towards the public’s interest.
