KBS has held a briefing session on the completion of a project on developing light-emitting diode (LED) lighting equipment for broadcasting purposes.
The briefing session was held at KBS’s main building on Monday amid the participation of officials of local terrestrial broadcasters, cable TV operators, satellite broadcasters and lighting experts.
The recently-developed LED lighting device was found to be more energy-efficient and more outstanding in color temperature and brightness compared to those of halogen equipment. The finding came after KBS conducted a capacity test using high-definition cameras. If the new devise is actively used, a significant amount of energy could be saved given that the electric power used for lighting accounted for more than 22 percent of total power consumption in 2003 compared to 18 percent in 1990.
The project was launched in the second half of 2009 with the participation of six companies, including KBS. Aurora Lite Bank, a lighting equipment firm, organized the project.
