S.Korea Positive about More Discussions on Mt. Baekdu

South Korea is positively considering North Korea’s proposal for another round of civilian level contact on the potential volcanic eruption at Mount Baekdu.

A government official said Wednesday that the South Korean government finds a need to further listen to North Korean experts.

This comes following South and North Korean civilian experts’ agreement Tuesday on the need for jointly researching the prospect of a volcanic eruption in the mountain located in the North.

At the civilian level contact in the southern border city of Munsan, North Korea had proposed to hold another round of expert-level talks early next month.

The second inter-Korean expert meeting, if it happens, will likely take place in the North as suggested by North Korea at the talks.
