Radiation Monitor Installed on Dokdo

Seoul’s Science and Technology Ministry installed a radiation monitor in South Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo in the East Sea.

The government said that the Minister of Education, Science and Technology Lee Joo-ho visited Dokdo on Friday to set up the monitor along with officials from the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety.

The monitor, which is similar to those installed at about 70 other sites across the country, is put into operation on Saturday after a system checkup.

The monitor is expected to enhance the nation’s radiation surveillance.
