2nd Round of S-N Civilian Experts' Meeting on Mt. Baekdu Likely

South Korea has reportedly agreed to hold the second-round meeting of civilian experts to discuss a potential volcanic eruption at Mount Baekdu.

The second meeting will likely be held on either Thursday or Friday at the North Korean border city of Gaeseong.

Insiders say the South Korean government will notify the time and location to North Korea early this week through a cable.

Earlier, the North proposed during the first meeting held in late March to hold another round of talks in early April, and mentioned a North Korean location for the venue.

On March 29th, the two Koreas held a meeting of civilian experts at the southern border city of Munsan to discuss a potential volcanic eruption at Mount Baekdu.

At the first meeting, the two Koreas agreed on the need for their joint study on the volcanic activity in Mount Baekdu. However, there were no concrete agreements.
