China also opened with a four-to-zero victory, over Turkmenistan. The 24-team soccer tournament for the Asian Games began its preliminary round Friday two days before the games' formal opening ceremony. In Group A with South Korea, Oman beat Malaysia one to zero. In Group C with China, India defeated Bangladesh three to zero. Thailand beat Yemen three to zero and Vietnam held the United Arab Emirates to a scoreless draw in Group B matches.
