Churches around the nation have held services and Mass to celebrate Easter.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul held Mass at Myongdong Cathedral at noon on Sunday.

In his Easter message, Seoul Archbishop Nicholas Cardinal Cheong Jin-suk said that as the joy of resurrection came from sacrifice, same is required for us in order to bear fruits in our lives.

The National Council of Churches in Korea and the Christian Council of Korea also held a joint service early in the morning, with some ten-thousand people attending.

In the service, Reverend Lee Shin-woong from Seonggyeol Church said that the blessings from resurrection are needed more than ever, adding church should be the light of the world and give hope for people.
