The Elders to Visit South Korea

The group of former global leaders headed by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will conclude their three-day visit to North Korea Thursday and fly to Seoul on a private jet.

The delegates are known as “The Elders,” and they will hold a news conference late Thursday afternoon in Seoul to speak about the results of their visit.

The group will then meet with high-ranking South Korean officials, including Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan and Unification Minister Hyun In-taek.

However, a visit to President Lee Myung-bak is not yet decided.

The Elders include former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, former Norwegian President Gro Brundtland, and former Irish President Mary Robinson.
