Russia, N.Korea Discuss Economic Collaboration

Russia’s news agency Interfax has reported that the head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov held talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il regarding sending 50-thousand tons of grain to North Korea and economic collaboration.

The news agency quoted a Russian diplomatic source and said that an economic collaboration project with South and North Korea would include building railroads, gas pipelines and power cables that connect Russia, North Korea, and South Korea.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said before the Russian news report that North Korean leader Kim Jong-il had met Fradkov on Tuesday, but did not disclose specific details.
