NK Leader Meets Chinese President in Beijing

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il met Chinaese President Hu Jintao in Beijing on Wednesday.

No details of their talks have been announced. But the two leaders are believed to have discussed various pending issues such as bilateral economic cooperation, the resumption of the six-party nuclear talks and Kim's power transfer plan.

The area around the Great Hall of the People, the venue for the summit, was heavily guarded by police.

Kim arrived in Beijing at 10 a.m. Wednesday by his special train, 17 hours after he left the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing. He quickly headed for the Diaoyutai State Guest House by car.

Kim is also believed to have had a luncheon meeting with Chinese Primier Wen Jiabao as a vehicle carrying the Chinese prime minister was seen entering the guest house before lunch time.

The North Korean leader will likely wrap up his schedules on Wednesday and leave for Pyongyang on Thursday as Myanmar President U Thein Sein's state visit to China starts Thursday.
