JCS: No Particular Signs Detected from NK Following Fresh Threats

The Joint Chiefs of Staff says it has not detected any particular signs of aggression from North Korea’s military following its threat to stage a full-scale retaliation earlier on Friday.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said that though no particular movements have been spotted, the South’s military is keeping a close watch after the North’s recent threats against the South.

An official at the Joint Chiefs of Staff said the South’s military is firmly maintaining a prepared stance for possible North Korean provocations. The South’s military is also upholding intelligence data surveillance capabilities with the U.S. that were strengthened following the North’s sinking of the “Cheonan” naval ship and shelling of Yeonpyeong Island.

The official said in the event the North stages another provocation, the South’s military would sternly address the provocative actions.
