GNP Calls on N.Korea to Disclose Recording of S-N Contact

The ruling Grand National Party (GNP) is demanding that North Korea disclose the alleged recording of a secret South-North contact held in Beijing last month.

North Korea claims there is a recording of the meeting during which South Korean officials beg for a summit and offer a monetary bribe. North Korea has threatened to make the recording public.

GNP spokesman Ahn Hyoung-hwan told reporters on Friday that the North's apparent intention is to spark disputes among South Koreans and take the upper hand in its bilateral relations with the South and the U.S.

Those relations became frayed following the North’s attacks on the South Korean naval vessel "Cheonan" and Yeonpyeong Island.

Ahn said these unreasonable words and actions will not get North Korea any results, adding that the North should set out to improve inter-Korean relations with a sincere attitude.
