Jogye Order Bureau Event to Pray for Pyeongchang's Olympic Bid

The Bureau of Dharma Propagation of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism is holding a Buddhist service on Thursday to pray that Pyeongchang wins a bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The service will be held at the Korea National Training Center, a national athletic training complex in Seoul.

Some 15-hundred people will take part in the event, including Jogye Order Head Venerable Jaseung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choung Byoung-gug and Gangwon Province Governor Choi Moon-soon.

The Jogye Order’s Bureau of Dharma Propagation said it was holding the ceremony to pray that Pyeongchang will win the bid to host the winter sports event and as a result, will contribute to promoting national unity and world peace.

Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province lost bids to host the Winter Olympic Games in 2003 and 2007.
