Japan's Dokdo Textbooks to Go on Display

The government will unveil to the public Japanese middle school textbooks that include territorial claims over South Korea’s easternmost islets of Dokdo.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology will hold a Dokdo exhibition at the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan, Seoul from Tuesday to the end of next month.

The exhibition will display 18 types of the middle school textbooks that were authorized by the Japanese government earlier in March and include territorial claims over Dokdo. The exhibition will also reveal a map in which Japan has labeled Dokdo as its own land.

The exhibition will also include photographs and videos of Dokdo as well as introduce the islets' ecosystem and people who are protecting the islets.

The exhibition will mark the first time for the government to disclose Japanese textbooks that include distorted historical claims.
