N.Korea Notifies SK of Intent to Dispose of Mt. Geumgang Assets

North Korea says it will dispose South Korean assets seized or frozen at Mount Geumgang resort under recently revised law.

North Korea has notified relevant South Korean parties, including Hyundai Asan, a joint tour operator in the area, to come to the special district by June 30th to discuss the issue.

North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency also said a spokesman for the North Korean authority appointed to oversee the special tourism district made the notification.

In late April, North Korea announced that it would establish a new special tourism district at the Mount Geumgang Resort. It implemented the law on June 2nd, which allows companies and individuals of South Korea and other nations to invest in the district.
