NK, Russia Summit Delayed, Not Cancelled

A Japanese newspaper says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s visit to Russia has only been delayed and not cancelled.

The Asahi Shimbun reported that a Russian government official said discussions were held between officials of both nations to plan a summit between Kim and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, but it was postponed.

The official also said that Kim Jong-il had planned to travel to Russia's Hasan area near the border with North Korea and then travel to the Russian Maritime Province of Vladivostok to hold the summit.
