Gov't to Invest W1.8 Tln. in Technology Convergence

The government will invest one-point-eight trillion won in the convergence technology sector this year.

The National Science and Technology Commission held a meeting Tuesday and finalized the sector’s budget, which is up more than 15 percent from last year. Converged technologies refer to one or more technologies merged together.

The investment will go towards discovering creative and challenging ideas to secure core technologies in the future of the convergence sector. The funding will also foster human resource experts in the field and develop the robot and contents industry and agricultural and bio engineering.

The commission also agreed to attract participation in research programs at home and abroad that converge technologies with humanities and culture. It will also operate a think tank on convergence policies.
