'NK Must Fulfil Prerequisites for Denuclearization to Resume 6-Way Talks'

A South Korean government official has hinted that the recent inter-Korean denuclearization talks in Bali, Indonesia and anticipated U.S.-North Korea talks will not alone restart six-party nuclear dialogue.

The official told reporters Monday that North Korea must follow preconditions for denuclearization previously agreed upon. The official explained that the termination of the North's uranium enrichment program is included in the requirement. The official also said that although a new phase of dialogue has begun, the way to resuming the six party talks will not be easy given that the North must first satisfy the preconditions.

In addition, the official said that North Korean First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-gwan’s visit to the U.S. and the planned North Korea-U.S. dialogue would serve as "exploratory talks," however, adding the North must pursue concrete measures.
