The military has stepped up its security of Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin after obtaining intelligence about an assassination plot against the minister by North Korea.

A government official said the military is keeping close tabs on Kim’s security and taking extra care when he leaves the office for functions or other obligations.

North Korea has vowed to kill him, calling him a “traitor”.
