The old Seoul Station built in the Renaissance style by the Japanese in 1925 was an architectural landmark in its day.

It served as a passage to and from Seoul crowded with people going to their hometowns during holidays.

The old station was closed down in 2004 after the new history of Korean railways began with the launch of the high-speed KTX train.

But now the nearly neglected building has been restored.

Meticulous research aided the restoration of the center hall and waiting rooms to their original form. The overhaul took two years and 20-billion won.

The old Seoul Station will now serve as a multifunctional culture center and a venue for performances and exhibitions.
