No. of Multicultural Children in Schools Nearly Doubles from 2008

The number of children from multicultural families in elementary through high schools has nearly doubled since 2008.

Democratic Party legislator and member of the parliamentary committee on education, science and technology, Kim Choon-jin, released data from the education ministry estimating the current number of elementary, middle and high school students from multicultural families stood at 38-thousand-890.

The number of children from multicultural families in middle schools rose to 77-hundred this year from 25-hundred in 2008 while the number of high school students from such families grew to 24-hundred from roughly 800 during the same period.
