KCC to Accept Applications for Hangeul Domain

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) will accept applications for dot-hanguk domains written in the Korean alphabet Hangeul.

The KCC said on Thursday that it will receive applications for domain names from next Monday through the end of the month.

If more than two people apply for the same domain name, the owner will be decided by lottery on September 20th to supply domain names in a fair manner.

About 120-thousand dot-hanguk domains have been reserved during an advance application period with certain domain names having been applied for by hundreds of people.

Government and state agencies have already registered for some 35-hundred domains, while holders of trademark rights secured for about 28-hundred domains in advance.
