Hyundai Asan Officials Visit Mt. Geumgang Resort Again

Officials of a South Korean tour operator to North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort visited the mountain property on Friday to discuss the issue of asset ownership there.

A Unification Ministry official said that the ministry approved a one-day visit for four officials from Hyundai Asan, including a senior official, Kim Yeong-hyeon.

The official said that the ministry gave them the green light in order give them a chance to defend their ownership rights to their assets in the North. The ministry had previously allowed the company to visits the North twice, once on August fourth and the other on August tenth, and Hyundai Asan CEO Jang Gyeong-jak went to the resort in person.

Friday marks the last day of the three week notice that the North gave the South before it would begin to dispose of the South Korean assets at the Mount Geumgang resort.
