NK, US Agree to Hold US War Remains Talks

North Korea and the United States will likely hold talks soon on resuming a project to excavate remains of U.S. soldiers in the North.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Friday quoted a North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying that the North accepted on humanitarian grounds a U.S. request for holding such talks.

The spokesman added that both nation’s militaries are working to arrange the talks.

Meanwhile, the US Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office told Radio Free Asia early this month that it has sent to the North a letter showing its interest in holding talks on the matter.
