N.Korean Media Emphasize NK-Russia Ties

North Korea has published an article looking back on the meaning of the North Korea-Russia summit ten years ago in light of the North’s leader Kim Jong-il’s visit to Russia on Saturday.

A Russian correspondent for the Rodong Sinmun, a daily for the North’s ruling Workers’ Party, said in an article on Saturday that ten years have already passed since Kim signed the North Korea-Russia Moscow Declaration during his visit to Russia, placing the longtime North Korea-Russia alliance at a new level.

The article went on to describe the opening ceremony of a book, photograph and crafts exhibition held in Moscow to commemorate the ten-year mark and called for even more solid friendly bilateral ties.

Some are speculating that the purpose of the article was to make Kim’s visit to Russia look good.
