Hyundai Asan Protests N.Korea’s Plan to Dispose Assets at Resort

South Korea’s Hyundai Asan is protesting North Korea’s notification that the North will dispose South Korean assets at Mount Geumgang resort.

The exclusive tourism operator at Mount Geumgang, Hyundai Asan held an emergency meeting after receiving the message early Monday morning.

Hyundai Asan said its business rights to tourism at the mountain resort and assets it and other South Korean companies own are their hard-earned gains and they have never given up ownership. It demanded the North to withdraw its plans.

In efforts to resume tourism to the resort, Hyundai Asan said it would hold discussions with the South Korean government and relevant companies. It said it would attempt to hold talks with the North as well.
