Trial Tour Group Arrives at Mt. Geumgang Resort

North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency says some 130 members on a trial run of a tour from Rasun City to Mount Geumgang have arrived at the mountain resort.

The KCNA said that the tour group arrived by the Mangyongbong ship at the Gosong port. The five-day trip is headed by Kim Song-mun, a senior official of the local government in China’s Yanbian Autonomous region. The group is made up of investors and journalists.

Vice chairman Park Chol Su of the Taepung International Investment Group, a North Korean government agency set up to attract foreign investment, held a news conference at Mount Geumgang on Wednesday.
The Associated Press reported that they aim to bring four-thousand tourists per day to Rasun and the Mount Geumgang resort in the peak summer season next year.

Park went on to say that the top priority is building a large-scale infrastructure for the tourism business to Mount Geumgang. He said that he is discussing the issue with some potential investors. Park reportedly said that North Korea has now opened its doors to the entire world.
