Ancient Ginseng Displayed at Ginseng Expo

A ginseng root from one thousand years ago has been put on display at the 2011 World Ginseng Expo Geumsan, Korea.

The ancient ginseng was found with other relics, including a wooden sitting Bodhisattva statue, in Busan in February 2010. Based on carbon dating, it has been found to have been cultivated during the Goryeo Dynasty at around 1060 AD.

The thousand year-old ginseng was revealed to the media just before it was put on display at the life energy pavilion in the Expo venue on Wednesday.

The ancient ginseng was prepared for display and placed inside its show case, where it will be seen by visitors for about a month.

The ancient root has rarely been on display since its discovery a year ago.
