KCNA: Trial Tour Group Finishes Touring Mt. Geumgang

North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency says members on a trial run of a tour from Rasun City to Mount Geumgang have left the mountain resort.

The report said that the tour group of one-hundred 30 foreign journalists and investors arrived at the mountain resort by the Mangyongbong ship on Wednesday. The group toured key attractions at Mount Geumgang and watched performances by a circus troupe from its arrival through Thursday.

The tour route that the group took is the same route that Hyundai Asan had operated for South Korean tourists who traveled to the mountain resort.

North Korean authorities also held an investor relations meeting on a plan to develop the mountain resort into a special tourism zone.

The tour group, which includes officials from foreign investment and travel companies based in the U.S., Russia, Europe, China and Japan, will tour Rajin next.
