US to Send Flood Relief to N.Korea on 1st Week of Sep

The U.S. State Department said on Friday local time that the U.S. would provide some nine-hundred-thousand dollars’ worth of disaster relief for flood recovery in North Korea within days.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said in a statement that a cargo plane of relief supplies is scheduled to arrive in Pyongyang over the weekend. She said the U.S. will provide funds to the U.S. non-governmental organization, "Samaritan’s Purse" for use in its flood relief efforts. She said U.S. government assistance will consist solely of emergency relief supplies, such as blankets, soap, and hygiene kits.

Radio Free Asia (RFA) said that Samaritan’s Purse will send an additional six-hundred-thousand dollars in flood relief supplies to North Korea several weeks later.
