“N.Korea’s Response Important for Follow-Up Talks”

South Korea's top nuclear envoy said Wednesday that a desirable response by North Korea is an important issue in deciding follow-up talks with the North.

Wi met with U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Stephen Bosworth in Washington D.C. and after their dialogue said that South Korea and the U.S. want to continue with talks.

He said that although North Korea has not yet responded, all members involved are in support of continued inter-Korea exchanges and dialogue, a sign of hope for additional talks.

Wi, who was in Washington D.C. for three days, met with North Korean nuclear policy officials in the U.S. government to discuss resuming six-party denuclearization talks and ways to respond to North Korea’s nuclear program.
