UM: S.Korea's Flood Relief Supplies to NK Likely to be Delayed

The first shipment of South Korean aid supplies for flood damaged North Korea is likely to be delayed due to a lack of response from the North.

Unification Ministry spokesman Chun Hae-sung said Friday that South Korea has notified the North of its plan to deliver the supplies on the 15th following Chuseok, but there has been no word from the North.

The spokesman said considering the long weekend for the Chuseok holiday and relevant procedures, it will be difficult to have the supplies delivered to North Korea by the 15th.

The government said, however, that it would provide the support as soon as North Korea delivers its position, stressing that the aid is for humanitarian purposes.
