Maestro Chung to Visit NK

South Korean Maestro Chung Myung-whun will head to Pyongyang next week to plan an exchange between the philharmonic orchestras of the two Koreas and discuss music education for North Korean children.

The Unification Ministry said Friday that Chung will visit North Korea from Monday through Thursday at the invitation of the North's Korean Association for Art Exchange.

Chung, who is also Unicef’s international goodwill ambassador, has had a keen interest in inter-Korean music exchanges and has been seeking to visit the North for some time. His planned visit in 2009 was cancelled after North Korea tested a nuclear device underground.
