A survey has found that the Korean animation character Pororo the Little Penguin is the top creative driving force in the country this year.

The National Library of Korea selected 20 items with the help of one hundred experts and ran an online survey on its choices earlier this month for ten days. Close to 24 percent of the 57-thousand respondents chose Pororo as the top creative genius.

K-pop or Korean pop music, which is leading the Korean Wave phenomenon, came in second at 19 percent followed by Kakao Talk, the phone number based mobile messenger service, at 18 percent.

The introduction of the meat and vegetable rice "bibimbab" as an in-flight meal and the Pusan International Film Festival were next on the list.
