NK-US Follow-up Talks Likely to be Held After SK-US Summit

A high-ranking South Korean government official said that following the second inter-Korean denuclearization talks, it appears that the chance for North Korea and the U.S. to meet will be postponed until after the upcoming South Korea-U.S. summit.

The official said that the U.S. does not currently appear to be in a hurry to hold talks with North Korea.

As a result, North Korea-U.S. talks appear likely to take place after October 13th, when President Lee Myung-bak and U.S. President Barack Obama hold a summit during Lee’s state visit there.

North Korea and the U.S. have been discussing to hold a round of talks in a third country city, such as Singapore or Berlin, after South and North Korean officials met in Beijing on September 21st.
