Sr. N.Korean Official to Attend Private Seminar in US

The vice chairman of North Korea’s Asia-Pacific Peace Committee Ri Jong-hyuk will lead a nine-member delegation to the University of Georgia’s "international Track II" private diplomacy seminar next week.

Organized by the university's Center for the Study of Global Issues, the seminar will host the North Korean delegation, retired and active-duty U.S. diplomats, and legislators from South Korea.

The seminar will address the North Korean nuclear issue, South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises and diplomacy among the two Koreas and the U.S.

A discussion panel will also be held to allow journalists from South Korea to engage in direct dialogue with North Korean officials, which is an unusual opportunity.
