Log Angeles City of the United States has appointed Korean star soccer player Hong Myung-bo an honorary ambassador to promote the U-S city among Korean tourists. The Korea office of the LA visitors Bureau said Friday that Hong will appear at the LA-Asia Trade Mission at the Shilla Hotel Monday in his capacity as an honorary ambassador for the U.S. city. Hong signed a contract to join the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer early next year, The soccer star will make a brief speech to the function and hold a session to take a picture with LA Mayor James Hahn and other members of the LA delegation to Seoul. The LA mayor will fly into Seoul Sunday for a three-day tour and will continue a tour of six other Asian cities, including Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei before returning home on November 27.
