The funeral service of the late marathon hero Sohn Kee-chung took place on Sunday.

Eminent figures from various fields attended the ceremony held at a Seoul hospital. The Korean Olympics Federation chairman Lee Yon-taek delivered a memorial address. The eulogy was followed by the wreath-laying ceremony, incense burning, and funeral procession.

After the funeral service, the casket was taken to the Olympic Association Hall, the Jamsil Olympics Main Stadium and Sohn's alma mater before burial at the National Cemetery in Daejon. Pallbearers included marathon Olympic gold medalist Hwang Young-jo, and Judo Olympic gold medalist Cheon Ki-young.
