Hanjin Group founder Cho Choong-hoon dies at 82.

The founder and chairman of the Hanjin Business Group died of old age at Inha University Hospital in Incheon Sunday. He was 82. Cho Choong-hoon has been staying in the hospital since late May and is survived by his wife, four sons and one daughter. Born in 1920 as the second eldest son of eight children, in Seoul, Cho founded the Hanjin Transportation Co. in the western port city of Incheon in 1945. The company later developed into a transportation conglomerate with 21 affiliates, including Korean Air and Hanjin Shipping Co. Besides heading the Hanjin Group, Cho has actively engaged in various activities while serving as vice chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries and chairman of the Korea Tourism Association and the Korean National Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations.
