Fan clubs of Korean pop stars are found to number 182 in 20 regions around the world with some three-point-three million members.
This is according to a survey conducted by Seoul's Culture Ministry and the Korean Culture and Information Service. It's estimated that 84 fan clubs of the South Korean pop culture phenomenon called the Korean Wave or Hallyu exist in eight Asian regions including Japan, China and Vietnam. The fan clubs have two-point-three million members.
Twenty-five Hallyu fan clubs with 500-thousand members exist in four regions in the Americas including Washington, New York and Argentina.
In seven European regions including the UK and France, there are 70 fan clubs boasting 460-thousand members while there are three in Africa with 12-hundred members.
Of the total, fan clubs for Korean signers number the most at 115. There are 24 fan clubs for Korean actors and actresses and 16 devoted to Korean films and dramas.
