Unification Minister Yu Woo-ik says South Korea is working to secure a stable dialogue channel with North Korea.

Yu made the remark on Thursday at a forum organized by the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington as he said the South Korean government is seeking flexibility in a non-political area to ease inter-Korean tensions and create an environment to resolve issues concerning the two Koreas.

The unification minister was quick to add there is no change in the South’s policy that the North must show sincerity toward denuclearization and take responsible measures for its military provocations against the South in order to start healthy inter-Korean relations.

Yu reiterated that the South Korean government is ready to provide substantial support to North Korea together with the international community once the North abandons its nuclear ambitions and takes the road toward change.
