Visually Impaired Person Anchors KBS News

Lee Chang-hoon made Korean broadcasting history on Monday as the first disabled person to anchor the news.

Lee, who is visually impaired, looks calm and relaxed as he reads the news.

The anchor lost his eyesight from encephalomeningitis when he was a baby. He learned how to read braille and went on to complete graduate school.

Lee beat out 522 competitors to become a KBS newscaster and did his utmost to adapt to the news-making field.

His presence behind the anchor desk is expected to send a message of hope to society.
